ABOUT ME

 

I was born in Cairo, Egypt to Beatrice Vanloo(Belgian) and Tarek Sokkar(Egyptian). My parents seperated when I turned one, after that I would grow up spend the school year living with my father and the summers with my mother. The divison of time between parents allowed me to travel a lot and experience the best of both cultures. At age 5, i was able to speak Arabic, English, French and Flemmish. Languages came naturally to me listening to my mother speak to her family memebers, its true what they say about kids being able to pick up languages when they are younger. I was always running around, swimming whenever i had a chance and ofcourse kicking a soccer ball at every given opportunity. I remember one summer my mother would force me to read The wizard of Oz in my room, "you cant go out and play until you have finished your reading" she would say. All i wanted to do was be outside and play, but thanks to my mothers dillgence, the reading sessions did come in handy growing up. Long story short, I went on to finish highschool in Cairo, played soccer and tennis very seriously. After that i travelled to live a year in Pretoria, South Africa. Then Back for four years University studying Advertising & Integrated Marketing Communications, while doing a minor in History and Theatre. I started to develop a passion for acting. Soon after a few friends asked me if they could try their new camera on me as a model, after giving that a try, i realized it seemed quite interesting, the idea of being captured in a certain and also the idea of role playing. I went for a summer to UCLA in California. Then i moved to Belgium in pursuit of a masters degree, still compeltely unsure what career i was interested in having but figured i could study while soul searching. 

 

 

Living in brussels, i got to meet and become friends with many photographers who then convinced me that modeling was the doorway to acting. That it was the way to hone my skills while getting noticed by directors and the right people. So thats how my modeling career began. Three years later after modeling for both Maxxed Managment Europe and Posche models Miami/Tokyo. I then decided I wanted to pursue a bigger market with bigger challenges, so the next obvious move was New York City.

After being in New York city for three years, All i can say is that everyday is a new adventure in the big apple. Maybe one day I'll sit down and write a book about all of it...
